Connecting Flights To and From Madagascar
All you need to know about reaching Madagascar and getting around the island by air.
Gateway Airport
Antananarivo — Ivato International Airport (TNR)
The main international gateway to Madagascar is Antananarivo's Ivato International Airport (IATA: TNR), located about 12 km north of the city centre. All international flights arrive here and it serves as the hub for domestic connections to the rest of the island.
A second international airport is located in Nosy Be (NOS) in northern Madagascar, with direct charter and scheduled flights from some European cities, particularly during the high season.
International Airlines

Domestic Airlines
Domestic air travel is essential for reaching remote birding sites efficiently. Madagascar Airlines connects the major towns and national parks.
Charter Flights
For groups or accessing very remote sites, charter flights can be arranged through local operators. Our team can organise charter flights as part of your tailor-made itinerary. This is particularly useful for reaching sites such as Masoala, Marojejy, or the far south.
Visa Information
Most nationalities can obtain a tourist visa on arrival at Ivato International Airport. A 30-day visa costs approximately €35. Extensions for up to 90 days are available in-country. We recommend checking current visa requirements with your nearest Malagasy embassy before travel.
